#Introduction
Caption My Video is operated by Divv Saxena (collectively, “Caption My Video,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our website, browser-based editor, paid services if offered, support channels, and checkout-related integrations.
Third-party services, including payment services, operate under their own privacy practices. This policy does not replace those policies.
#Privacy-first processing
Your video, extracted audio, transcript, and captions are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to Caption My Video servers as part of the normal editor workflow.
The editor uses browser features, local WebAssembly-based processing, temporary memory, Blob URLs, and workers to work with your project on your device. Project data is held in the active browser session and is normally lost when you refresh or close the tab. We do not intentionally store your selected video, extracted audio, transcript, or caption project on our servers.
Public application assets, speech-model files, and FFmpeg assets may be downloaded to your browser. Your browser may cache those public files. Those public caches do not contain your video, audio, transcript, captions, or other project content.
#Information processed locally
During normal editor use, the following may be processed on your device: your selected video file; filename; duration; dimensions; file size; extracted audio; generated transcript; caption text; timestamps; caption style settings; and export output.
This information is used to provide the editing experience in the browser. You control the source file and any downloaded output.
#Information we may collect
Although your media is not uploaded in the normal editor flow, limited information may be processed by us or our infrastructure providers, depending on how you interact with the service. This can include information you submit in support messages or voluntarily provide, plus basic operational records such as IP address, browser type, operating system, requested URL, timestamps, and security or abuse signals.
For paid access, we may receive limited customer and transaction information from the payment processor, such as a customer identifier, email address, transaction identifier, payment or subscription status, plan, license, and entitlement information. Hosting, CDN, DNS, and security providers may generate server or security logs even though user media is not uploaded to us.
#Payment information and Dodo Payments
Where paid products, subscriptions, or licenses are offered, Dodo Payments acts as Merchant of Record for qualifying transactions. Dodo Payments collects and processes payment and billing information directly from the customer and may appear on statements, receipts, or invoices. It handles payment processing, taxes, fraud checks, disputes, and chargebacks under its own policies.
Caption My Video is not intended to receive or store complete payment-card details. We may receive limited information needed to provide access, such as customer email, purchase status, plan, cancellation, refund, license, and entitlement information. Our service policy is that purchases are nonrefundable except where a refund is required by applicable law. Checkout and payment processing are governed by Dodo Payments’ Privacy Policy and Dodo Payments’ Buyer Terms.
#How we use information and legal bases
We may use limited information to deliver paid access, validate entitlements, respond to support requests, maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, comply with legal obligations, and resolve billing issues. We do not use your locally processed media content for advertising or profiling.
Where data-protection law applies, our legal bases may include performing a contract, our legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required.
#Service providers and international transfers
We may use infrastructure, hosting, DNS, security, support, email, and payment providers to operate the service. Verified payment processing is provided by Dodo Payments. Public model or application assets may be requested directly by your browser from the providers that host them.
These providers may process limited personal data in more than one country. We do not represent that a particular transfer mechanism applies in every situation; provider terms and applicable law may govern those transfers.
#Retention and sharing
We do not intentionally retain user-media project data on Caption My Video servers. Temporary browser memory is cleared when the session is refreshed, closed, or otherwise released by the browser. Support records may be retained as reasonably necessary. Billing and transaction records may be retained for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, contractual, and payment-provider requirements. Server and security logs are retained for a limited operational period determined by providers or policy: [DEFINE SUPPORT RETENTION PERIOD]; [DEFINE LOG RETENTION PERIOD].
We may share limited information with payment, infrastructure, support, and email providers; professional advisers; authorities where required by law; and successors in a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction. User video, audio, transcript, and caption content is not intentionally shared through the normal local editor workflow. We do not sell your personal information.
#Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or to complain to a regulator. To make a request, email hello@divvsaxena.com. We may not possess locally processed project data because it is not sent to our servers.
#Children and security
Caption My Video is not directed to children below [MINIMUM USER AGE REQUIRED]. Do not use the service or provide personal information if you do not meet the applicable minimum age, unless a parent or guardian has authorized use where law allows.
Local processing reduces exposure of media content. We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the service, including HTTPS, access controls, limited data collection, and a payment provider for checkout. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
#Third-party links, changes, and contact
External sites and payment pages have their own terms and privacy policies. We may update this policy by posting a revised version and changing the date above.
